Artsy High Tea Fundraiser 2025
The Islamic Arts Society held an “Artsy” High Tea Fundraiser at the Silver Street Studios in the Heights Arts District on May 25th. This elegant event included an exhibition of Islamic art curated by the Islamic Arts Society.
Visitors were mesmerized by the exquisite display of Islamic art at the Silver St. Studios and enjoyed a curated selection of teas, delicate pastries, and the delightful company of friends in a charming setting. The event was attended by supporters of our society and many dignitaries, including City of Houston Council Member Julian Ramirez, Ambassador Sada Cumber, Dr. Asaf Qadeer, and others. Board member Zakia Lalani welcomed the visitors, and Society President Ms. Shaheen Rahman informed the audience about our ambitious plans for the next year and introduced our new ED, Sara Rehman, who also spoke briefly to the audience.
Visitors also saw the IAS documentary “Finding Islamic Arts in the Bayou City” and learned about the IAS book “History, Art and Architecture of Mosques in Houston.
