The Islamic Art Society proudly presents the acclaimed Sara Filali’s Storytelling Workshop & Performance on November 16th from 2:00 till 3:30 PM. Discover the art of storytelling in an interactive workshop where participants have the opportunity to create their own stories. Sara will also be performing a few of her short stories from her latest release, “Hajeetek Majeetek: My Grandmother’s North African Folktales”.
Sara Filali, a Moroccan-American artist and writer, is known for her dynamic art series portraying Muslim women. Sara’s work challenges stereotypes and emphasizes the individuality of Muslim and MENA women. Her art serves as a compelling response to Orientalism, offering nuanced perspectives.
Beyond her creative pursuits, Sara explores the scenic landscapes of Colorado with her husband, Rayan, and actively engages in community-building initiatives. Believing in the transformative power of storytelling, she envisions a world where art reshapes narratives and honors our humanity.
